About North Thormanby Island:
Thormanby Island is one of the Sunshine Coast's best kept secrets for relaxing and escaping the busy city. North Thormanby island is located off the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. Thormanby Island is located 17 km west of Sechelt, and is known for its white sandy beaches and a long pristine shoreline. The name Thormanby was given to the island by Captain George Richards, who surveyed the area with his ship Plumper in 1860. The name Thormanby was that of the horse who won the Epsom derby, a famous horse race, that year. Several other place names in the area come from the Epsom derby. On the southern tip of the island is the Buccaneer Bay Provincial Park. On the northern tip of the island is the small community of Vaucroft Beach. The island is connected to South Thormanby Island
